KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the MMC-Gamuda consortium was the appropriate candidate for the Mass Rapid Transit tunnelling project in Malaysia due to its track record in such projects.
"They are the only one with the experience. MMC-Gamuda should be a good choice," Mahathir told reporters in Kota Kemuning on Thursday after officiating at the MMC-Gamuda Tunnelling Training Academy.
Gamuda managing director Datuk Lin Yun Ling said the company "will do its best" to secure the project.
Lim said the government was expected to announce the winning bidder by May next year.
