KL shares remain higher at mid-morning

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia extended early gains to the midmorning session today as sentiment stayed positive following the strong overnight rally on Wall Street, dealers said.

At 11.15am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was up 8.4 points or 0.6 per cent to 1,470.77, after opening 8.48 points higher at 1,470.85.

Market breath was positive as gainers led losers 479 to 93 while 182 counters were unchanged, 718 untraded and 21 others suspended.

Volume stood at 932.43 million shares worth RM446.11 million.

The Finance Index rose 81.9 points to 13,232.95, the Plantation Index added 9.09 points to 7,480.4 while the Industrial Index gained 7.72 points to 2,686.42.

The FBM Emas Index advanced 63.229 points to 10,034.51, the FBM Mid 70 Index surged 83.8 points to 10,833.46 and the FBM Ace Index jumped 128.54 points to 4,173.39.

Among active stocks, Karambunai added 2.5 sen to 21.5 sen, Harvest-Wa rose 16.5 sen to 75 sen and Harvest rose 18 sen to 82 sen.

For the heavyweights, Maybank gained 2 sen to RM8.24, CIMB added 8 sen to RM7.27 and Sime Darby earned 1 sen to RM8.77. -- Bernama
