KL shares higher on technical rebound

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened higher in early trading today on technical rebound in tandem with overnight gains on Wall Street, dealers said.

At 9.50am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was up 6.55 points or 0.45 per cent to 1,468.92 after opening 8.48 points higher at 1,470.85.

Market breathe positive as gainers led losers 354 to 53 while 138 counters were unchanged, 927 untraded and 21 others suspended.

Volume stood at 372.85 million shares worth RM173.19 million.

The Finance Index rose 74.47 points to 13,225.52; Plantation Index declined 11.3 points to 7,460.01 while the Industrial Index gained 7.76 points to 2,686.46.

The FBM Emas Index advanced 50.31 points to 10,021.59; the FBM Mid 70 Index surged 70.43 points to 10,820.09 and the FBM Ace Index jumped 81.58 points to 4,126.43.

Among active stocks, Harvest-Wa and Harvest rose 12 sen each to 70.5 sen and 76 sen, respectively, while Palette earned 1 sen to 10 sen.

For heavyweights, Maybank gained 2 sen to RM8.24, CIMB added 9 sen to RM7.28 and Sime Darby earned 1 sen to RM8.77. -- Bernama
