KL shares easier at mid-morning trade

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned easier at mid-morning trading, as investors remain on the sidelines ahead of the third quarter gross domestic product growth announcement today, dealers said.

At 11.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 4.86 points to 1,460.61.

The Finance Index lost 47.20 points to 13,026.68, the Industrial Index fell 5.16 points to to 2,693.53 but the Plantation Index gained 1.98 points to 7,630.10.

The FBM Emas Index declined 31.71 points to 10,029.31, the FBM Mid 70 Index slipped 22.42 points to 10,984.33 and the FBM ACE Index dwindled 20.01 points to 4,246.44.

Losers led gainers by 394 to 151 while 231 counters were unchanged. Turnover stood at 5,904,367 lots worth RM367.958 million.

Actives, Frontkn eased half sen to 13.5 sen, Compugates was unchanged at eight sen and Frontkn-WA lost one sen to nine sen.

Heavyweights, Sime Darby and CIMB gained three sen each to RM8.93 and RM6.90, respectively, but Maybank lost five sen to RM8.25 while Petronas Chemicals slipped eight sen to RM6.17. -- Bernama
