MISC decides to exit container shipping

MISC Corp, the world’s largest owner-operator of liquefied natural gas tankers, said it has decided to exit the container shipping business.

The decision has been hastened by present “difficult” operating conditions resulting in total losses of US$789 million over the past three financial years, the Kuala Lumpur-based company said in an exchange filing today.
